Introduction & Scope
■ Introduction: At Karpagam Engineers Pvt. Ltd., we are committed to protecting the environment and integrating environmentally sound practices into every aspect of our operations. Continuous improvement and environmental stewardship are integral to our business, and we strive to minimize environmental impacts while attaining a leadership position in environmental management through defined roles and responsibilities.
■ Scope: This policy is applicable to all production, business operations, and services provided by Karpagam Engineering Pvt Ltd. It includes our value chain partners such as suppliers, contractors, distribution and logistics partners, and any other key business partners, while also setting ground rules for due diligence, mergers, and acquisitions.
Main Policy Commitments
■ Regulatory Compliance: Building and operating facilities in compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and obligations, endeavouring to go beyond compliance to achieve superior environmental performance.
■ Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identifying and evaluating environmental and climate impacts and their associated risks for all activities, and developing effective mitigation strategies harmonious with community practices and regulatory requirements.
■ Performance Improvement: Continuously improving environmental performance by setting and reviewing objectives, targets, and processes for the efficient use of natural resources, waste minimization, emission reduction, and pollution prevention.
■ Biodiversity Conservation: Conserving and protecting biodiversity in and around our project and operational sites by facilitating the proactive and ongoing involvement of relevant stakeholders.
■ Due Diligence & Audits: Conducting environmental due diligence for new projects, expansions of existing projects, mergers, acquisitions, and supply chains, alongside regular internal and external audits to assess compliance.
■ Training & Empowerment: Conducting training for stakeholders, including employees, customers, vendors, and local communities, to empower them to understand environmental impacts and contribute to our goals.
Environmental Stewardship & Deforestation Standards
■ Zero Deforestation: We prohibit any direct or indirect involvement in deforestation, illegal logging, or land conversion of high conservation value areas.
■ Sustainable Sourcing: All wood, paper, packaging, and forest-derived products shall be sourced responsibly, preferably certified by credible schemes (e.g., FSC, PEFC).
■ Supplier Responsibility: All suppliers and contractors must adhere to our no-deforestation standards; non-compliance will lead to reviews, corrective actions, or contract termination.
■ Reforestation & Restoration: Where feasible, we will support reforestation, afforestation, and forest ecosystem restoration projects.
■ Due Diligence & Monitoring: Environmental due diligence for new projects, expansions, and supply chains will include deforestation risk analyses, backed by transparent tracking and reporting in annual sustainability reviews.
